Merge tag 'net-next-6.11' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net-next

Pull networking updates from Jakub Kicinski:
"Not much excitement - a handful of large patchsets (devmem among them)
did not make it in time.

Core & protocols:

- Use local_lock in addition to local_bh_disable() to protect per-CPU
resources in networking, a step closer for local_bh_disable() not
to act as a big lock on PREEMPT_RT

- Use flex array for netdevice priv area, ensure its cache alignment

- Add a sysctl knob to allow user to specify a default rto_min at
socket init time. Bit of a big hammer but multiple companies were
independently carrying such patch downstream so clearly it's useful

- Support scheduling transmission of packets based on CLOCK_TAI

- Un-pin TCP TIMEWAIT timer to avoid it firing on CPUs later cordoned
off using cpusets

- Support multiple L2TPv3 UDP tunnels using the same 5-tuple address

- Allow configuration of multipath hash seed, to both allow
synchronizing hashing of two routers, and preventing partial
accidental sync

- Improve TCP compliance with RFC 9293 for simultaneous connect()

- Support sending NAT keepalives in IPsec ESP in UDP states.
Userspace IKE daemon had to do this before, but the kernel can
better keep track of it

- Support sending supervision HSR frames with MAC addresses stored in
ProxyNodeTable when RedBox (i.e. HSR-SAN) is enabled

- Introduce IPPROTO_SMC for selecting SMC when socket is created

- Allow UDP GSO transmit from devices with no checksum offload

- openvswitch: add packet sampling via psample, separating the
sampled traffic from "upcall" packets sent to user space for
forwarding

- nf_tables: shrink memory consumption for transaction objects

Things we sprinkled into general kernel code:

- Power Sequencing subsystem (used by Qualcomm Bluetooth driver for
QCA6390) [ Already merged separately - Linus ]

- Add IRQ information in sysfs for auxiliary bus

- Introduce guard definition for local_lock

- Add aligned flavor of __cacheline_group_{begin, end}() markings for
grouping fields in structures

BPF:

- Notify user space (via epoll) when a struct_ops object is getting
detached/unregistered

- Add new kfuncs for a generic, open-coded bits iterator

- Enable BPF programs to declare arrays of kptr, bpf_rb_root, and
bpf_list_head

- Support resilient split BTF which cuts down on duplication and
makes BTF as compact as possible WRT BTF from modules

- Add support for dumping kfunc prototypes from BTF which enables
both detecting as well as dumping compilable prototypes for kfuncs

- riscv64 BPF JIT improvements in particular to add 12-argument
support for BPF trampolines and to utilize bpf_prog_pack for the
latter

- Add the capability to offload the netfilter flowtable in XDP layer
through kfuncs

Driver API:

- Allow users to configure IRQ tresholds between which automatic IRQ
moderation can choose

- Expand Power Sourcing (PoE) status with power, class and failure
reason. Support setting power limits

- Track additional RSS contexts in the core, make sure configuration
changes don't break them

- Support IPsec crypto offload for IPv6 ESP and IPv4 UDP-encapsulated
ESP data paths

- Support updating firmware on SFP modules

Tests and tooling:

- mptcp: use net/lib.sh to manage netns

- TCP-AO and TCP-MD5: replace debug prints used by tests with
tracepoints

- openvswitch: make test self-contained (don't depend on OvS CLI
tools)

Merge branch 'net-flash-modees-firmware' into main

Danielle Ratson says:

====================
Add ability to flash modules' firmware

CMIS compliant modules such as QSFP-DD might be running a firmware that
can be updated in a vendor-neutral way by exchanging messages between
the host and the module as described in section 7.2.2 of revision
4.0 of the CMIS standard.

According to the CMIS standard, the firmware update process is done
using a CDB commands sequence.

CDB (Command Data Block Message Communication) reads and writes are
performed on memory map pages 9Fh-AFh according to the CMIS standard,
section 8.12 of revision 4.0.

Add a pair of new ethtool messages that allow:

* User space to trigger firmware update of transceiver modules

* The kernel to notify user space about the progress of the process

The user interface is designed to be asynchronous in order to avoid RTNL
being held for too long and to allow several modules to be updated
simultaneously. The interface is designed with CMIS compliant modules in
mind, but kept generic enough to accommodate future use cases, if these
arise.

The kernel interface that will implement the firmware update using CDB
command will include 2 layers that will be added under ethtool:

* The upper layer that will be triggered from the module layer, is
cmis_ fw_update.
* The lower one is cmis_cdb.

In the future there might be more operations to implement using CDB
commands. Therefore, the idea is to keep the cmis_cdb interface clean and
the cmis_fw_update specific to the cdb commands handling it.

The communication between the kernel and the driver will be done using
two ethtool operations that enable reading and writing the transceiver
module EEPROM.
The operation ethtool_ops::get_module_eeprom_by_page, that is already
implemented, will be used for reading from the EEPROM the CDB reply,
e.g. reading module setting, state, etc.
The operation ethtool_ops::set_module_eeprom_by_page, that is added in
the current patchset, will be used for writing to the EEPROM the CDB
command such as start firmware image, run firmware image, etc.

Therefore in order for a driver to implement module flashing, that
driver needs to implement the two functions mentioned above.

Patchset overview:
Patch #1-#2: Implement the EEPROM writing in mlxsw.
Patch #3: Define the interface between the kernel and user space.
Patch #4: Add ability to notify the flashing firmware progress.
Patch #5: Veto operations during flashing.
Patch #6: Add extended compliance codes.
Patch #7: Add the cdb layer.
Patch #8: Add the fw_update layer.
Patch #9: Add ability to flash transceiver modules' firmware.

v8:
Patch #7:
* In the ethtool_cmis_wait_for_cond() evaluate the condition once more
to decide if the error code should be -ETIMEDOUT or something else.
* s/netdev_err/netdev_err_once.

v7:
Patch #4:
* Return -ENOMEM instead of PTR_ERR(attr) on
ethnl_module_fw_flash_ntf_put_err().
Patch #9:
* Fix Warning for not unlocking the spin_lock in the error flow
on module_flash_fw_work_list_add().
* Avoid the fall-through on ethnl_sock_priv_destroy().

v6:
* Squash some of the last patch to patch #5 and patch #9.
Patch #3:
* Add paragraph in .rst file.
Patch #4:
* Reserve '1' more place on SKB for NUL terminator in
the error message string.
* Add more prints on error flow, re-write the printing
function and add ethnl_module_fw_flash_ntf_put_err().
* Change the communication method so notification will be
sent in unicast instead of multicast.
* Add new 'struct ethnl_module_fw_flash_ntf_params' that holds
the relevant info for unicast communication and use it to
send notification to the specific socket.
* s/nla_put_u64_64bit/nla_put_uint/
Patch #7:
* In ethtool_cmis_cdb_init(), Use 'const' for the 'params'
parameter.
Patch #8:
* Add a list field to struct ethtool_module_fw_flash for
module_fw_flash_work_list that will be presented in the next
patch.
* Move ethtool_cmis_fw_update() cleaning to a new function that
will be represented in the next patch.
* Move some of the fields in struct ethtool_module_fw_flash to
a separate struct, so ethtool_cmis_fw_update() will get only
the relevant parameters for it.
* Edit the relevant functions to get the relevant params for
them.
* s/CMIS_MODULE_READY_MAX_DURATION_USEC/CMIS_MODULE_READY_MAX_DURATION_MSEC
Patch #9:
* Add a paragraph in the commit message.
* Rename labels in module_flash_fw_schedule().
* Add info to genl_sk_priv_*() and implement the relevant
callbacks, in order to handle properly a scenario of closing
the socket from user space before the work item was ended.
* Add a list the holds all the ethtool_module_fw_flash struct
that corresponds to the in progress work items.
* Add a new enum for the socket types.
* Use both above to identify a flashing socket, add it to the
list and when closing socket affect only the flashing type.
* Create a new function that will get the work item instead of
ethtool_cmis_fw_update().
* Edit the relevant functions to get the relevant params for
them.
* The new function will call the old ethtool_cmis_fw_update(),
and do the cleaning, so the existence of the list should be
completely isolated in module.c.

ethtool: cmis_fw_update: add a layer for supporting firmware update using CDB

According to the CMIS standard, the firmware update process is done using
a CDB commands sequence.

Implement a work that will be triggered from the module layer in the
next patch the will initiate and execute all the CDB commands in order, to
eventually complete the firmware update process.

This flashing process includes, writing the firmware image, running the new
firmware image and committing it after testing, so that it will run upon
reset.

This work will also notify user space about the progress of the firmware
update process.

ethtool: cmis_cdb: Add a layer for supporting CDB commands

CDB (Command Data Block Message Communication) reads and writes are
performed on memory map pages 9Fh-AFh according to the CMIS standard,
section 8.20 of revision 5.2.
Page 9Fh is used to specify the CDB command to be executed and also
provides an area for a local payload (LPL).

According to the CMIS standard, the firmware update process is done using
a CDB commands sequence that will be implemented in the next patch.

The kernel interface that will implement the firmware update using CDB
command will include 2 layers that will be added under ethtool:

* The upper layer that will be triggered from the module layer, is
cmis_fw_update.
* The lower one is cmis_cdb.

In the future there might be more operations to implement using CDB
commands. Therefore, the idea is to keep the CDB interface clean and the
cmis_fw_update specific to the CDB commands handling it.

These two layers will communicate using the API the consists of three
functions:

- struct ethtool_cmis_cdb *
ethtool_cmis_cdb_init(struct net_device *dev,
struct ethtool_module_fw_flash_params *params);
- void ethtool_cmis_cdb_fini(struct ethtool_cmis_cdb *cdb);
- int ethtool_cmis_cdb_execute_cmd(struct net_device *dev,
struct ethtool_cmis_cdb_cmd_args *args);

Add the CDB layer to support initializing, finishing and executing CDB
commands:

* The initialization process will include creating of an ethtool_cmis_cdb
instance, querying the module CDB support, entering and validating the
password from user space (CMD 0x0000) and querying the module features
(CMD 0x0040).

* The finishing API will simply free the ethtool_cmis_cdb instance.

* The executing process will write the CDB command to EEPROM using
set_module_eeprom_by_page() that was presented earlier, and will
process the reply from EEPROM.

Merge branch 'phy-listing-link_topology-tracking'

Maxime Chevallier says:

====================
Introduce PHY listing and link_topology tracking

Here's a V5 of the multi-PHY support series.

At a glance, besides some minor fixes and R'd-by from Andrew, one of the
thing this series does is remove the ASSERT_RTNL() from the
topo_add_phy/del_phy operations.

These operations will take a PHY device and put it into the list of
devices associated to a netdevice. The main thing to protect here is the
list itself, but since we use xarrays, my naive understanding of it is
that it contains its own protection scheme. There shouldn't be a need
for more locking, as the insertion/deletion paths are already hooked
into the PHY connection to a netdev, or disconnection from it.

Now for the rest of the cover :

As a remainder, this ongoing work aims ultimately at supporting complex
link topologies that involve multiplexing multiple PHYs/SFPs on a single
netdevice. As a first step, it's required that we are able to enumerate the
PHYs on a given ethernet interface.

By just doing so, we also improve already-existing use-cases, namely the
copper SFP modules support when a media-converter is used (as we have 2
PHYs on the link, but only one is referenced by net_device.phydev, which
is used on a variety of netlink commands).

The series is architectured as follows :

- The first patch adds the notion of phy_link_topology, which tracks
all PHYs attached to a netdevice.

- Patches 2, 3 and 4 adds some plumbing into SFP and phylib to be able
to connect the dots when building the topology tree, to know which PHY
is connected to which SFP bus, trying not to be too invasive on phylib.

- Patch 5 allows passing a PHY_INDEX to ethnl commands. I'm uncertain about
this, as there are at least 4 netlink commands ( 5 with the one introduced
in patch 7 ) that targets PHYs directly or indirectly, which to me makes
it worth-it to have a generic way to pass a PHY index to commands, however
the approach taken may be too generic.

- Patch 6 is the netlink spec update + ethtool-user.c|h autogenerated code
update (the autogenerated code triggers checkpatch warning though)

- Patch 7 introduces a new netlink command set to list PHYs on a netdevice.
It implements a custom DUMP and GET operation to allow filtered dumps,
that lists all PHYs on a given netdevice. I couldn't use most of ethnl's
plumbing though.

- Patch 8 is the netlink spec update + ethtool-user.c|h update for that
new command

- Patch 8,9,10 and 11 updates the PLCA, strset, cable-test and pse netlink
commands to use the user-provided PHY instead of net_device.phydev.

- Finally patch 12 adds some documentation for this whole work.

Examples
========

Here's a short overview of the kind of operations you can have regarding
the PHY topology. These tests were performed on a MacchiatoBin, which
has 3 interfaces :

eth0 and eth1 have the following layout:

MAC - PHY - SFP

eth2 has this more classic topology :

MAC - PHY - RJ45

finally eth3 has the following topology :

MAC - SFP

When performing a dump with all interfaces down, we don't get any
result, as no PHY has been attached to their respective net_device :

None

The following output is with eth0, eth2 and eth3 up, but no SFP module
inserted in none of the interfaces :

[{'downstream-sfp-name': 'sfp-eth0',
'drvname': 'mv88x3310',
'header': {'dev-index': 2, 'dev-name': 'eth0'},
'id': 0,
'index': 1,
'name': 'f212a600.mdio-mii:00',
'upstream-type': 'mac'},
{'drvname': 'Marvell 88E1510',

'id': 21040593,
'index': 1,
'name': 'f212a200.mdio-mii:00',
'upstream-type': 'mac'}]

And now is a dump operation with a copper SFP in the eth0 port :

[{'downstream-sfp-name': 'sfp-eth0',
'drvname': 'mv88x3310',
'header': {'dev-index': 2, 'dev-name': 'eth0'},
'id': 0,
'index': 1,
'name': 'f212a600.mdio-mii:00',
'upstream-type': 'mac'},
{'drvname': 'Marvell 88E1111',
'header': {'dev-index': 2, 'dev-name': 'eth0'},
'id': 21040322,
'index': 2,
'name': 'i2c:sfp-eth0:16',
'upstream': {'index': 1, 'sfp-name': 'sfp-eth0'},
'upstream-type': 'phy'},
{'drvname': 'Marvell 88E1510',
'header': {'dev-index': 4, 'dev-name': 'eth2'},
'id': 21040593,
'index': 1,
'name': 'f212a200.mdio-mii:00',

-- Note that this shouldn't actually work as the 88x3310 PHY doesn't allow
a 1G SFP to be connected to its SFP interface, and I don't have a 10G copper SFP,
so for the sake of the demo I applied the following modification, which
of courses gives a non-functionnal link, but the PHY attach still works,
which is what I want to demonstrate :

Finally an example of the filtered DUMP operation that Jakub suggested
in V1 :

Changed in V5:
- Removed the RTNL assertion in the topology ops
- Made the phy_topo_get_phy inline
- Fixed the PSE-PD multi-PHY support by re-adding a wrongly dropped
check
- Fixed some typos in the documentation
- Fixed reverse xmas trees

Changes in V4:
- Dropped the RFC flag
- Made the net_device integration independent to having phylib enabled
- Removed the autogenerated ethtool-user code for the YNL specs

Changes in V3:
- Added RTNL assertions where needed
- Fixed issues in the DUMP code for PHY_GET, which crashed when running it
twice in a row
- Added the documentation, and moved in-source docs around
- renamed link_topology to phy_link_topology

Changes in V2:
- Added the DUMP operation
- Added much more information in the reported data, to be able to reconstruct
precisely the topology tree
- renamed phy_list to link_topology

net: ethtool: Introduce a command to list PHYs on an interface

As we have the ability to track the PHYs connected to a net_device
through the link_topology, we can expose this list to userspace. This
allows userspace to use these identifiers for phy-specific commands and
take the decision of which PHY to target by knowing the link topology.

Add PHY_GET and PHY_DUMP, which can be a filtered DUMP operation to list
devices on only one interface.

Merge branch 'net-make-timestamping-selectable'

Kory Maincent says:

====================
net: Make timestamping selectable

Up until now, there was no way to let the user select the layer at
which time stamping occurs. The stack assumed that PHY time stamping
is always preferred, but some MAC/PHY combinations were buggy.

This series updates the default MAC/PHY default timestamping and aims to
allow the user to select the desired layer administratively.

Changes in v2:
- Move selected_timestamping_layer variable of the concerned patch.
- Use sysfs_streq instead of strmcmp.
- Use the PHY timestamp only if available.

Changes in v3:
- Expose the PTP choice to ethtool instead of sysfs.
You can test it with the ethtool source on branch feature_ptp of:
https://github.com/kmaincent/ethtool
- Added a devicetree binding to select the preferred timestamp.

Changes in v4:
- Move on to ethtool netlink instead of ioctl.
- Add a netdev notifier to allow packet trapping by the MAC in case of PHY
time stamping.
- Add a PHY whitelist to not break the old PHY default time-stamping
preference API.

Changes in v5:
- Update to ndo_hwstamp_get/set. This bring several new patches.
- Add few patches to make the glue.
- Convert macb to ndo_hwstamp_get/set.
- Add netlink specs description of new ethtool commands.
- Removed netdev notifier.
- Split the patches that expose the timestamping to userspace to separate
the core and ethtool development.
- Add description of software timestamping.
- Convert PHYs hwtstamp callback to use kernel_hwtstamp_config.

Changes in v6:
- Few fixes from the reviews.
- Replace the allowlist to default_timestamp flag to know which phy is
using old API behavior.
- Rename the timestamping layer enum values.
- Move to a simple enum instead of the mix between enum and bitfield.
- Update ts_info and ts-set in software timestamping case.

Changes in v7:
- Fix a temporary build error.

net: ethtool: Add a command to expose current time stamping layer

Time stamping on network packets may happen either in the MAC or in
the PHY, but not both. In preparation for making the choice
selectable, expose both the current layers via ethtool.

In accordance with the kernel implementation as it stands, the current
layer will always read as "phy" when a PHY time stamping device is
present. Future patches will allow changing the current layer
administratively.

Merge tag 'net-next-6.3' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net-next

Pull networking updates from Jakub Kicinski:
"Core:

- Add dedicated kmem_cache for typical/small skb->head, avoid having
to access struct page at kfree time, and improve memory use.

- Introduce sysctl to set default RPS configuration for new netdevs.

- Define Netlink protocol specification format which can be used to
describe messages used by each family and auto-generate parsers.
Add tools for generating kernel data structures and uAPI headers.

- Expose all net/core sysctls inside netns.

- Remove 4s sleep in netpoll if carrier is instantly detected on
boot.

- Add configurable limit of MDB entries per port, and port-vlan.

- Continue populating drop reasons throughout the stack.

- Retire a handful of legacy Qdiscs and classifiers.

Protocols:

- Support IPv4 big TCP (TSO frames larger than 64kB).

- Add IP_LOCAL_PORT_RANGE socket option, to control local port range
on socket by socket basis.

- Track and report in procfs number of MPTCP sockets used.

- Support mixing IPv4 and IPv6 flows in the in-kernel MPTCP path
manager.

- IPv6: don't check net.ipv6.route.max_size and rely on garbage
collection to free memory (similarly to IPv4).

- Support Penultimate Segment Pop (PSP) flavor in SRv6 (RFC8986).

- ICMP: add per-rate limit counters.

- Add support for user scanning requests in ieee802154.

- Remove static WEP support.

- Support minimal Wi-Fi 7 Extremely High Throughput (EHT) rate
reporting.

- WiFi 7 EHT channel puncturing support (client & AP).

BPF:

- Add a rbtree data structure following the "next-gen data structure"
precedent set by recently added linked list, that is, by using
kfunc + kptr instead of adding a new BPF map type.

- Expose XDP hints via kfuncs with initial support for RX hash and
timestamp metadata.

- Add BPF_F_NO_TUNNEL_KEY extension to bpf_skb_set_tunnel_key to
better support decap on GRE tunnel devices not operating in collect
metadata.

- Improve x86 JIT's codegen for PROBE_MEM runtime error checks.

- Remove the need for trace_printk_lock for bpf_trace_printk and
bpf_trace_vprintk helpers.

- Extend libbpf's bpf_tracing.h support for tracing arguments of
kprobes/uprobes and syscall as a special case.

- Significantly reduce the search time for module symbols by
livepatch and BPF.

- Enable cpumasks to be used as kptrs, which is useful for tracing
programs tracking which tasks end up running on which CPUs in
different time intervals.

- Add support for BPF trampoline on s390x and riscv64.

- Add capability to export the XDP features supported by the NIC.

- Add __bpf_kfunc tag for marking kernel functions as kfuncs.

- Add cgroup.memory=nobpf kernel parameter option to disable BPF
memory accounting for container environments.

Netfilter:

- Remove the CLUSTERIP target. It has been marked as obsolete for
years, and we still have WARN splats wrt races of the out-of-band
/proc interface installed by this target.

- Add 'destroy' commands to nf_tables. They are identical to the
existing 'delete' commands, but do not return an error if the
referenced object (set, chain, rule...) did not exist.

Driver API:

- Improve cpumask_local_spread() locality to help NICs set the right
IRQ affinity on AMD platforms.

- Separate C22 and C45 MDIO bus transactions more clearly.

- Introduce new DCB table to control DSCP rewrite on egress.

- Support configuration of Physical Layer Collision Avoidance (PLCA)
Reconciliation Sublayer (RS) (802.3cg-2019). Modern version of
shared medium Ethernet.

- Support for MAC Merge layer (IEEE 802.3-2018 clause 99). Allowing
preemption of low priority frames by high priority frames.

- Add support for controlling MACSec offload using netlink SET.

- Rework devlink instance refcounts to allow registration and
de-registration under the instance lock. Split the code into
multiple files, drop some of the unnecessarily granular locks and
factor out common parts of netlink operation handling.

- Add TX frame aggregation parameters (for USB drivers).

- Add a new attr TCA_EXT_WARN_MSG to report TC (offload) warning
messages with notifications for debug.

- Allow offloading of UDP NEW connections via act_ct.

- Add support for per action HW stats in TC.

- Support hardware miss to TC action (continue processing in SW from
a specific point in the action chain).

- Warn if old Wireless Extension user space interface is used with
modern cfg80211/mac80211 drivers. Do not support Wireless
Extensions for Wi-Fi 7 devices at all. Everyone should switch to
using nl80211 interface instead.

- Improve the CAN bit timing configuration. Use extack to return
error messages directly to user space, update the SJW handling,
including the definition of a new default value that will benefit
CAN-FD controllers, by increasing their oscillator tolerance.

New hardware / drivers:

- Ethernet:
- nVidia BlueField-3 support (control traffic driver)
- Ethernet support for imx93 SoCs
- Motorcomm yt8531 gigabit Ethernet PHY
- onsemi NCN26000 10BASE-T1S PHY (with support for PLCA)
