therefore, only one such section may be 73defined. 74This section defines configuration parameters that apply to the PF as a whole. 75.Pp 76The second section type is the VF section. 77This section has the key "VF-" followed by a VF index. 78VF indices start at 0 and always increment by 1. 79Valid VF indices are in the range of 0 to 80.Po num_vfs - 1 Pc . 81The VF index must be given as a decimal integer with no leading zeros. 82This section defines configuration parameters that apply to a single VF. 83.Pp 84The third section type is the default section. 85This section always has the key "DEFAULT"; therefore, only one such section may 86be specified. 87This section defines default configuration parameters that apply to all VFs. 88All configuration keys that are valid to be applied to a VF are valid in this 89section. 90An individual VF section may override a default specified in this section by 91providing a different value for the configuration parameter. 92Note that the default section applies to ALL VFs. 93The default section must appear before any VF sections. 94The default section may appear before or after the PF section. 95.Pp 96The following option types are supported: 97.Bl -tag -width indent 98.It boolean 99Accepts a boolean value of true or false. 100.It mac-addr 101Accepts a unicast MAC address specified as a string of the form 102xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, where xx is one or two hexadecimal digits. 103.It string 104Accepts any string value. 105.It uint8_t 106Accepts any integer in the range 0-255, inclusive. 107.It uint16_t 108Accepts any integer in the range 0-65535, inclusive. 109.It uint32_t 110Accepts any integer in the range 0-2**32, inclusive. 111.It uint64_t 112Accepts any integer in the range 0-2**64, inclusive. 113.El 114.Sh OPTIONS 115The following parameters are accepted by all PF drivers: 116.Bl -tag -width indent 117.It device Pq string 118This parameter specifies the name of the PF device. 119This parameter is required to be specified. 120.It num_vfs Pq uint16_t 121This parameter specifies the number of VF children to create. 122This parameter may not be zero. 123The maximum value of this parameter is device-specific. 124.El 125.Pp 126The following parameters are accepted by all VFs: 127.Bl -tag -width indent 128.It passthrough Pq boolean 129This parameter controls whether the VF is reserved for the use of the 130.Xr bhyve 8 131hypervisor as a PCI passthrough device. 132If this parameter is set to true, then the VF will be reserved as a PCI 133passthrough device and it will not be accessible from the host OS. 134The default value of this parameter is false. 135.El 136.Pp 137See the PF driver manual page for configuration parameters specific to 138particular hardware. 139.Sh EXAMPLES 140This sample file will create 3 VFs as children of the ix0 device. 141VF-1 and VF-2 are set as 142.Xr bhyve 8 143passthrough devices through the use of the default section. 144VF-0 is not configured as a passthrough device as it explicitly overrides the 145default. 146VF-0 also sets a device-specific parameter named mac-addr. 147.Bd -literal .offset ident 148PF { 149 device : "ix0"; 150 num_vfs : 3; 151} 152 153DEFAULT { 154 passthrough : true; 155} 156 157VF-0 { 158 mac-addr : "02:56:48:7e:d9:f7"; 159 passthrough : false; 160} 161.Ed 162.Sh SEE ALSO 163.Xr iovctl 8 , 164.Xr rc.conf 5 165.Sh AUTHORS 166This manual page was written by 167.An Ryan Stone Aq Mt rstone@FreeBSD.org . 168
