1 2 A Network Address Translation Daemon for FreeBSD 3 4 51. WHAT IS NATD ? 6 7 This is a simple daemon based on FreeBSD divert sockets 8 which performs network address translation (or masquerading) 9 for IP packets (see related RFCs 1631 and 1918). 10 It is based on packet aliasing package (see README.alias) 11 written by Charles Mott (cmott@srv.net). 12 13 This package works with any network interface (doesn't have 14 to be ppp). I run it on a computer having two ethernet cards, 15 one connected to internet and the other one to local network. 16 172. GETTING IT RUNNING 18 19 1) Get FreeBSD 2.2 - I think the divert sockets are 20 not available on earlier versions, 21 22 2) Compile this software by executing "make". 23 24 3) Install the software by executing "make install". 25 26 4) See man natd for further instructions. 27 283.
