Each 20individual file represented a single platform's microcode. However, 21recently Intel has changed that policy and is no longer distributing 22microcode in that fashion. Further, we also relied on bootadm to go 23through and turn this microcode into individual files as part of setting 24up the boot environment. 25 26Intead of using this method, we will update the microcode and manage 27them in here as individual files. When updating files, please indicate 28the release that the microcode was obtained from here. 29 30The upstream microcode for Intel can currently be found at: 31 32https://github.com/intel/Intel-Linux-Processor-Microcode-Data-Files 33 34The script "update.intel" in this directory can be used to help automate 35the update by providing a tarball of the above microcode, and takes care 36of updating the manifest as necessary. Be careful about new files. 37 38AMD: Updated in March 2012 as part of illumos#2546. Exact revision 39unknown. 40 41Intel: Linux 20190918 release 42
