Merge tag 'net-next-7.3' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net-nextPull networking updates from Jakub Kicinski: "One of the 'small improvements all over the place' releases for us. It's hard to draw any direct comparisons because summer vacations disrupted our patch processing (and presumably - generation) quite a bit. Quick and dirty count suggests we (Paolo and I) merged a very similar number of net (632) and net-next (648) patches. This is not telling the full story either because 1/3 to 1/2 of the net-next patches also *seem* like AI-driven low priority fixes, cleanups and clarifications. We are completely overwhelmed, of course. The glimmer of hope is that we secured sufficient LLM budget and access (thank you Meta!) to run reviews with multiple frontier models on each patch. This eliminates some hallucinations. That said, in terms of review, the LLMs can only do so much. The sad truth is that our APIs (especially for rare events like PCIe errors, timeouts etc) have always been racy, and now LLMs don't let us ignore that. I expect our direction for the next release will be to tweak the reviews a little bit more, but start shifting focus to letting the LLMs take care of the busy work - managing patchwork, automating common process complaints, editing commit messages, and maybe applying patches which already got "reviewed-by" tags from people we trust... Core & protocols: - A few steps lowering rtnl_lock dependence: - per-netns netdev unregistration for select SW drivers (e.g. veth, ipvlan, tunnels) - rtnl_lock-less FIB rule changes (RTM_NEWRULE and RTM_DELRULE) - prepare software drivers and TC qdiscs for rtnl_lock-less GET - Support BIG TCP (>64kB TSO) in UDP tunnels (vxlan, geneve) - Support buffers larger than PAGE_SIZE in devmem zero-copy API - Improve MPTCP handling of extreme memory pressure handling, when out-of-order queue had to be pruned - Report the per-group user count via RTM_GETMULTICAST - Expose the route deletion reason in RTM_DELROUTE - Add a SO_RIGHTS_NOTRUNC option to UNIX sockets to enable more useful handling of LSM denials when receiving SCM_RIGHTS messages: instead of truncating the message at the first blocked fd, keep every fd slot and store the LSM errno in the blocked slot - IPv6 Segment Routing - support looking up the post-encap SID (address) in a different/specified routing table - Support PRP RedBox (interlink) creation - Support per-nexthop UDP dst port in VXLAN - Continue converting getsockopt callbacks in a number of protocols to iov_iter Ethernet: - Merge initial CXL support for AMD/Solarflare NICs (shared branch with the CXL tree) - New drivers: - ADIN1140 10BASE-T1S MACPHY - Initial skeleton of Intel iXD and ZTE Dinghai drivers - High-speed NICs: - AMD/Pensando: - support firmware flashing - Cisco (enic): - SR-IOV V2 admin channel and MBOX protocol - Huawei (hns3): - support for ethtool pfc_prevention_tout - nVidia/Mellanox: - support sharing bandwidth control across interfaces of the same device - Marvell (octeontx2-pf): - link RQ page pools to netdev for Netlink stats - Google vNIC: - XDP metadata support for DQ RDA - Microsoft vNIC: - support forcing full-page RX buffers - Other NICs: - Synopsys IP: - eic7700: support for eth1 - Microchip (lan743x): - support for RMII interface - Wangxun: - support for ethtool -G and -C for VFs - add Tx timeout and PCIe error handling - Intel (igb/igc): - RSS key get/set support - support for forcing link speed without auto-negotiation - Switches: - NXP (dpaa2): - support bonding/LAG offload - Mediatek: - mt7530: EN7528 support - initial support for MT7628 - Micrel (ksz8/9): - refactoring work to move towards library model - PTP support for KSZ8463 - nVidia/Mellanox: - support rtnl-lock-less ethtool callbacks - Realtek: - rtl8366rb: use generic RTL83xx code - support SGMII and HSGMII for RTL8367S - PHYs: - Airoha: - EcoNet EN7528 PHY support - DAPU Telecom - DAPU Telecom DAP8211R(I) Gigabit PHY support - Realtek: - support RTL8261C_CG - support RTL8261D Wireless: - nl80211: per-link statistics support for multi-link operation - mac80211: AQL/airtime-fairness support for multicast - Merge Peripheral Authentication Service (PAS) / TEE support for ath12k (shared branch with the firmware/qcom tree) - New drivers: - mm81x for Morse Micro Long-Range S1G devices - nxpwifi for NXP devices (mostly forked off from mwifiex) - Driver changes: - Broadcom (brcmfmac): - DPP support, some Cypress part update - MediaTek (mt76): - mt7928 support - mt7925 NAN support - mt7996 AP powersave improvements - Qualcomm (ath12k): - much kernel infrastructure integration work - AHB platform MultiPD support - Realtek (rt89): - LED support - RTL8922DE support - dual-BT coex for RTL8922D - Intel: - new FW version support Bluetooth: - HCI: add support for Shorter Connection Interval (SCI) feature - af_bluetooth: add minimal context analysis annotations - Driver changes: - Intel: - add Bluetooth SAR revision 2 support - add vendor_reset PCI sysfs for PLDR - Mediatek: - add USB IDs for MT7902 and MT7922 devices - Realtek: - add USB IDs for 8761CU and 8852BE devices - NXP: - add M.2 Bluetooth device support using pwrseq Misc: - DPLL support for manual/numerical oscillator control (NCO) (implement in zl3073x) - MCTP support for MCTP over USB v1.1 (DMTF DSP0283) - Power-over-Ethernet: support Realtek PSE controllers - Remove the IBM EHEA driver - Remove tulip/xircom_cb driver"* tag 'net-next-7.3'
Merge branch 'net-phy-dp83640-fix-shared-clock-lifetime-and-probe-error-cleanup'Xuanqiang Luo says:====================net: phy: dp83640: fix shared clock lifetime and probe error cleanupThe DP83640 driver shares one PTP clock between all PHYs on the same MIIbus. Its driver-local clock lookup and removal scheme can leak the shared clockon probe failure or free it while another probe is acquiring it.This series moves the shared clock to the PHY package infrastructure.Patch 1 adds PHY package locking helpers.Patch 2 embeds the pin configuration in the shared clock.Patch 3 clears per-PHY state when PTP clock registration fails.Patch 4 fixes the shared clock lifetime using the PHY packageinfrastructure.====================Link: https://patch.msgid.link/20260811151345.73582-1-xuanqiang.luo@linux.devSigned-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>

net: phy: dp83640: fix per-bus clock lifetimeCommit 42e2a9e11a1d ("net: phy: dp83640: improve phydev and driverremoval handling") moved per-bus clock cleanup from module exit to theremove path. This leaves two lifetime problems.dp83640_clock_get_bus() publishes a newly allocated clock before thedriver allocates its per-PHY data and registers the PTP clock. If eitheroperation fails, no PHY is bound and the remove callback cannot releasethe clock, leaking the clock and the MII bus device reference. The remove path can also free a clock after dropping clock_lock. Aconcurrent probe may already have found the clock underphyter_clocks_lock and be waiting for clock_lock, allowing it to acquirea freed mutex and access the freed clock.Use the PHY package infrastructure for the per-bus clock. PHY packagesare tracked per MII bus, and the driver uses BROADCAST_ADDR as thepackage key so the DP83640 PHYs on the same bus share the same clockstorage. Call phy_package_join() during probe and phy_package_leave() onprobe errors and in remove.Serialize the one-time clock initialization with the package lock becausephy_package_probe_once() elects an initializer but does not wait forinitialization to finish.Cc: stable+noautosel@kernel.org # untested fix to a driver init pathReviewed-by: Andrew Lunn <andrew@lunn.ch>Signed-off-by: Xuanqiang Luo <luoxuanqiang@kylinos.cn>Link: https://patch.msgid.link/20260811151345.73582-5-xuanqiang.luo@linux.devSigned-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>

Merge tag 'net-next-7.0' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net-nextPull networking updates from Paolo Abeni: "Core & protocols: - A significant effort all around the stack to guide the compiler to make the right choice when inlining code, to avoid unneeded calls for small helper and stack canary overhead in the fast-path. This generates better and faster code with very small or no text size increases, as in many cases the call generated more code than the actual inlined helper. - Extend AccECN implementation so that is now functionally complete, also allow the user-space enabling it on a per network namespace basis. - Add support for memory providers with large (above 4K) rx buffer. Paired with hw-gro, larger rx buffer sizes reduce the number of buffers traversing the stack, dincreasing single stream CPU usage by up to ~30%. - Do not add HBH header to Big TCP GSO packets. This simplifies the RX path, the TX path and the NIC drivers, and is possible because user-space taps can now interpret correctly such packets without the HBH hint. - Allow IPv6 routes to be configured with a gateway address that is resolved out of a different interface than the one specified, aligning IPv6 to IPv4 behavior. - Multi-queue aware sch_cake. This makes it possible to scale the rate shaper of sch_cake across multiple CPUs, while still enforcing a single global rate on the interface. - Add support for the nbcon (new buffer console) infrastructure to netconsole, enabling lock-free, priority-based console operations that are safer in crash scenarios. - Improve the TCP ipv6 output path to cache the flow information, saving cpu cycles, reducing cache line misses and stack use. - Improve netfilter packet tracker to resolve clashes for most protocols, avoiding unneeded drops on rare occasions. - Add IP6IP6 tunneling acceleration to the flowtable infrastructure. - Reduce tcp socket size by one cache line. - Notify neighbour changes atomically, avoiding inconsistencies between the notification sequence and the actual states sequence. - Add vsock namespace support, allowing complete isolation of vsocks across different network namespaces. - Improve xsk generic performances with cache-alignment-oriented optimizations. - Support netconsole automatic target recovery, allowing netconsole to reestablish targets when underlying low-level interface comes back online. Driver API: - Support for switching the working mode (automatic vs manual) of a DPLL device via netlink. - Introduce PHY ports representation to expose multiple front-facing media ports over a single MAC. - Introduce "rx-polarity" and "tx-polarity" device tree properties, to generalize polarity inversion requirements for differential signaling. - Add helper to create, prepare and enable managed clocks. Device drivers: - Add Huawei hinic3 PF etherner driver. - Add DWMAC glue driver for Motorcomm YT6801 PCIe ethernet controller. - Add ethernet driver for MaxLinear MxL862xx switches - Remove parallel-port Ethernet driver. - Convert existing driver timestamp configuration reporting to hwtstamp_get and remove legacy ioctl(). - Convert existing drivers to .get_rx_ring_count(), simplifing the RX ring count retrieval. Also remove the legacy fallback path. - Ethernet high-speed NICs: - Broadcom (bnxt, bng): - bnxt: add FW interface update to support FEC stats histogram and NVRAM defragmentation - bng: add TSO and H/W GRO support - nVidia/Mellanox (mlx5): - improve latency of channel restart operations, reducing the used H/W resources - add TSO support for UDP over GRE over VLAN - add flow counters support for hardware steering (HWS) rules - use a static memory area to store headers for H/W GRO, leading to 12% RX tput improvement - Intel (100G, ice, idpf): - ice: reorganizes layout of Tx and Rx rings for cacheline locality and utilizes __cacheline_group* macros on the new layouts - ice: introduces Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) support - Meta (fbnic): - adds debugfs for firmware mailbox and tx/rx rings vectors - Ethernet virtual: - geneve: introduce GRO/GSO support for double UDP encapsulation - Ethernet NICs consumer, and embedded: - Synopsys (stmmac): - some code refactoring and cleanups - RealTek (r8169): - add support for RTL8127ATF (10G Fiber SFP) - add dash and LTR support - Airoha: - AN8811HB 2.5 Gbps phy support - Freescale (fec): - add XDP zero-copy support - Thunderbolt: - add get link setting support to allow bonding - Renesas: - add support for RZ/G3L GBETH SoC - Ethernet switches: - Maxlinear: - support R(G)MII slow rate configuration - add support for Intel GSW150 - Motorcomm (yt921x): - add DCB/QoS support - TI: - icssm-prueth: support bridging (STP/RSTP) via the switchdev framework - Ethernet PHYs: - Realtek: - enable SGMII and 2500Base-X in-band auto-negotiation - simplify and reunify C22/C45 drivers - Micrel: convert bindings to DT schema - CAN: - move skb headroom content into skb extensions, making CAN metadata access more robust - CAN drivers: - rcar_canfd: - add support for FD-only mode - add support for the RZ/T2H SoC - sja1000: cleanup the CAN state handling - WiFi: - implement EPPKE/802.1X over auth frames support - split up drop reasons better, removing generic RX_DROP - additional FTM capabilities: 6 GHz support, supported number of spatial streams and supported number of LTF repetitions - better mac80211 iterators to enumerate resources - initial UHR (Wi-Fi 8) support for cfg80211/mac80211 - WiFi drivers: - Qualcomm/Atheros: - ath11k: support for Channel Frequency Response measurement - ath12k: a significant driver refactor to support multi-wiphy devices and and pave the way for future device support in the same driver (rather than splitting to ath13k) - ath12k: support for the QCC2072 chipset - Intel: - iwlwifi: partial Neighbor Awareness Networking (NAN) support - iwlwifi: initial support for U-NII-9 and IEEE 802.11bn - RealTek (rtw89): - preparations for RTL8922DE support - Bluetooth: - implement setsockopt(BT_PHY) to set the connection packet type/PHY - set link_policy on incoming ACL connections - Bluetooth drivers: - btusb: add support for MediaTek7920, Realtek RTL8761BU and 8851BE - btqca: add WCN6855 firmware priority selection feature"* tag 'net-next-7.0' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net-next: (1254 commits) bnge/bng_re: Add a new HSI net: macb: Fix tx/rx malfunction after phy link down and up af_unix: Fix memleak of newsk in unix_stream_connect(). net: ti: icssg-prueth: Add optional dependency on HSR net: dsa: add basic initial driver for MxL862xx switches net: mdio: add unlocked mdiodev C45 bus accessors net: dsa: add tag format for MxL862xx switches dt-bindings: net: dsa: add MaxLinear MxL862xx selftests: drivers: net: hw: Modify toeplitz.c to poll for packets octeontx2-pf: Unregister devlink on probe failure net: renesas: rswitch: fix forwarding offload statemachine ionic: Rate limit unknown xcvr type messages tcp: inet6_csk_xmit() optimization tcp: populate inet->cork.fl.u.ip6 in tcp_v6_syn_recv_sock() tcp: populate inet->cork.fl.u.ip6 in tcp_v6_connect() ipv6: inet6_csk_xmit() and inet6_csk_update_pmtu() use inet->cork.fl.u.ip6 ipv6: use inet->cork.fl.u.ip6 and np->final in ip6_datagram_dst_update() ipv6: use np->final in inet6_sk_rebuild_header() ipv6: add daddr/final storage in struct ipv6_pinfo net: stmmac: qcom-ethqos: fix qcom_ethqos_serdes_powerup() ...

Merge branch 'ptp-vmclock-add-vm-generation-counter-and-acpi-notification'Takahiro Itazuri says:====================ptp: vmclock: Add VM generation counter and ACPI notificationSimilarly to live migration, starting a VM from some serialized state(aka snapshot) is an event which calls for adjusting guest clocks, hencea hypervisor should increase the disruption_marker before resuming theVM vCPUs, letting the guest know. However, loading a snapshot, is slightly different than live migration, especially since we can start multiple VMs from the same serializedstate. Apart from adjusting clocks, the guest needs to take additionalaction during such events, e.g. recreate UUIDs, reset networkadapters/connections, reseed entropy pools, etc. These actions are notnecessary during live migration. This calls for a differentiationbetween the two triggering events. We differentiate between the two events via an extra field in thevmclock_abi, called vm_generation_counter. Whereas hypervisors shouldincrease the disruption marker in both cases, they should only increasevm_generation_counter when a snapshot is loaded in a VM (not during livemigration).Additionally, we attach an ACPI notification to VMClock. Implementingthe notification is optional for the device. VMClock device will declarethat it implements the notification by settingVMCLOCK_FLAG_NOTIFICATION_PRESENT bit in vmclock_abi flags. Hypervisorsthat implement the notification must send an ACPI notification everytime seq_count changes to an even number. The driver will propagatethese notifications to userspace via the poll() interface.====================Link: https://patch.msgid.link/20260130173704.12575-1-itazur@amazon.comSigned-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>
